The King County Academy of Family Physicians (KCAFP) is a professional medical society dedicated to maintaining high standards of family medicine. Family medicine is the medical specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family. It is the specialty in breadth which integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences. The scope of family medicine encompasses all ages, all sexes, each organ system, and every disease entity.

The Core of Family Medicine: What makes us Successful!

Wednesday May 18th, 2022
UW Urban Horticulture Center 
60 members & guests attended the KCAFP Annual Meeting. It officially began at 7:00pm with introduction from Chapter Executive David Wells. The following are highlights from the meeting:
 
  • UWSOM FMIG hosted a Medical Student Mixer prior to our Annual Meeting.
  • The Master of Ceremonies was Dr. Nelson Chiu, outgoing president.
  • A Year in Review was given. Medical Student & Resident Appointments were announced.
  • Election instructions & opportunity for self-nominations were given.
  • Tenaya Kothari was the 2022 Theodore J. Phillips Award Recipient. Her award was accepted by her nominator Dr. Ruth Michaelis
  • Anna May was the 2022 Student Community Service Award Recipient. She was introduced by Dr. Kim Kardonsky.
  • Tilden Keller was the 2022 Nola Mae Moore Award Recipient. She was introduced by UW Department of Family Medicine Lecturer Genya N. Shimkin.
  • Tess Moore, MD FAAFP was the 2022 Roger Rosenblatt Award Recipient. She was introduced by Naomi Busch, MD.
  • President Elect, Annie Gayman introduced Carl Morris who moderated a panel on the Core of Family Medicine, What makes us Successful! Panelists included Naomi Nkinsi, MS4, Julie Do, MD PGY-3, and Carla Ainsworth, MD.
  • Election Results Announced by Chapter Executive David Wells.
  • Meeting Adjourned at 8:45pm
