2024 Rosenblatt Award Winner
The Roger A. Rosenblatt Award for Community Service is presented annually to a member of the King County Academy of Family Physicians who best exemplifies a career of service to the community over and above the usual role of a family physician. Roger A. Rosenblatt, MD, MPH, was Professor and Vice-Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine, a leader in rural health and community-based education, an outstanding family physician and community leader. This year we are delighted to announce Dr. Judy Featherstone as the Rosenblatt Award winner.
Judy Featherstone, MD FAAFP, has cared for patients and the community as both a physician and an administrator at HealthPoint, a community health center organization with 19 clinics located throughout King County for over 33 years. Dr. Featherstone took on leadership in 2000, becoming Medical Director and then Chief Health Officer to HealthPoint. In this role, she has dedicated her entire career to serving patients all over King County, mentoring medical providers at multiple HealthPoint locations as well as building programs to help educate future community health staff including physicians, dentists, naturopathic physicians, medical and dental assistants, psychologists and more. She has also helped develop new models of integrated care to better meet the needs of the community. Before integrated behavioral health was common, she used her experiences as a family physician and respected health organization leader to advocate for behavioral health without barriers or stigma, right there in the same medical and dental clinic. She helped pioneer and grow the integrated behavioral health program and, in doing so, laid the foundation for HealthPoint’s whole-person approach to care. She partnered with other community health center organizations to ensure improved quality of care and access for all, including being on the BOD for Project Access Northwest when it was expanding past the initial 1-2 specialties it offered to uninsured patients. Her greatest joy was to work with other family physicians as they learned to lead and be part of changing the world. Dr Featherstone is a graduate of University of Washington medical school and residency in Family Medicine in Rochester, New York.
