JOB ANNOUNCEMENT – Chapter Manager
The King County Academy of Family Physicians (KCAFP) invites applicants for its Chapter Manager (CM) position. The KCAFP is a local chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and a constituent chapter of the Washington Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP). We are a professional organization of over 1,000 family doctors in King County with several hundred medical students and residents. The KCAFP Chapter Manager is employed by the KCAFP, supervised by the board of directors, and reports to the executive team. The Chapter Manager’s responsibilities are determined by the board and fall into the following three broad areas:
Administrative Support
The CM works with the board of directors to manage its annual programs including:
Communication & Marketing
The CM serves as public contact person for the organization and publicize programs via:
Event Planning
The CM is entrusted with organizing, executing, and evaluating various virtual and in-person events:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The Chapter Manager is the sole paid staff of the KCAFP. It is a 10-15 hour per week position, though actual hours worked each week may vary across the month depending on organization/event needs. Hourly pay rate is $22-$28 based on experience. There is employer contribution toward reimbursement of health insurance premiums.
The CM is expected to work from home for weekly tasks and in-person when events are planned to be in-person. The KCAFP does not rent office space but will provide any necessary equipment.

- Help draft agendas and collaborate with executives for regular board meetings
- Work with members to plan and execute annual event
- Facilitate registrations and applications for various programs/events
- Evaluate and prioritize member/community partnership requests
- Assist with organizational budgeting & financial documentation
Communication & Marketing
The CM serves as public contact person for the organization and publicize programs via:
- Drafting, editing, and distributing programs/decisions to membership through the membership email
- Updating the website to reflect upcoming programs and/or events
- Coordinating with organizations & stakeholder
Event Planning
The CM is entrusted with organizing, executing, and evaluating various virtual and in-person events:
- Fall and Spring Continuing Medical Education (CME) opportunities
- A hybrid Professional Development Seminar for Family Medicine Residents
- Annual Meeting with Award Ceremony & Elections
- Summer Social Gathering
- Spring/Summer Volunteer Event
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to set deadlines and anticipate future needs
- Timely communication
- Excellent written, email and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability and accuracy
- Proven event management skills
- Excellent computer skills across a variety of digital platforms, including hosting digital events by zoom, and updating KCAFP website
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Willingness to work limited pre-scheduled nights and weekends
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience working with a board of directors
- Previous experience working with professional associations or like non-profits
- Knowledge of family medicine practice types, educational journey, and/or organizations
- Experience working with family physicians
